Sheesham Wood Furniture (Indian Rosewood)
Hailing from the rosewood family Sheesham is sourced from the Dalberigia Sissoo species of tree. Native to India, the deciduous tree can grow up to 30 meters high in wet conditions and produces pink white flowers and brown pod like fruit.
“Sheesham or Shisham has become famous internationally as a premier timber species of rosewood.”
Highly sought after for its beautiful irregular grain structure sheesham wood ranges in colour from a light golden brown through to a deep reddish brown.
A very durable and strong timber, sheesham wood does not split or warp during manufacture and can be polished to achieve a fine finish making it a popular timber for use in furniture and decorative carvings.
