Mid-Century Modern Furniture
A furniture style dating from 1940 to 1970, Mid-century modern furniture saw designers moving away from fussy ornate detailing and moving into a more simplistic and modern style. A time of rapid social change post WWII, designers pushed new boundaries in furniture design embracing a modern cosmopolitan way of living. Taking inspiration from the Scandinavian design principles designers focused on functionality, flexibility, simplicity and beauty in their designs. Leading the way for much of today’s modern furniture, mid-century modern embodied slick clean lines, fresh and simple colours and finishes and functional design to suit our evolving modern lifestyle.
