DIY Aussie Christmas

Christmas styling is typically dominated by the northern hemisphere with their white Christmases, mistletoe and reindeer but this doesn't mean we can't have a truly Aussie Christmas.

Our beautiful summer weather means there is an abundance of native flowers available to adorn your house. Get creative with some re-purposed glass jars and Christmas ribbon to create some simple arrangements for every room of the house.

Or for those more artistically inclined try your hand at a native wreath to welcome your visitors.

If you want to add some Aussie styling to your Christmas tree then these simple to make aussie baubles will look great. Clear plastic baubles are readily available this time of year from craft stores such as Spotlight and Riot, simply decorate in your favourite Aussie style.

Another Christmas DIY staple is the gold spray paint. Any number of bits and pieces can be spray painted gold to magically become Christmas decorations! Gum nuts and gum leaves are a tried and tested Aussie favourite. Why not replace the pinecones for gum nuts in these hurricane vase arrangements for a simple Aussie table centre piece.

With no snow in sight, the festive season is the perfect opportunity to make use of an outdoor table setting. Keep things simple on Christmas Day with some disposable plates and napkins, because after all that food no one wants to wash up!
